Former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has responded to a Real Madrid supporter who suggested that the Catalan club has only one way of winning.
As reported by İdman.Biz, the fan wrote on social media: "Barcelona have only one way to win, and we know what it is."
"Yes, Barcelona have only one way to win — by playing magnificent football. That is what we are known for. We have won many league titles, many Champions Leagues and completed many trebles by playing magnificent football," Pique said, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The former Spain international then turned the discussion towards refereeing decisions, citing controversial moments involving Real Madrid in Champions League finals.
"You are the ones who have always brought up the issue of referees. If you want, I can remind you of the Champions League final against Juventus, of Mijatovic's goal, which was scored in violation of the rules.
"Or one of the two finals against Atletico, Sergio Ramos' goal when he was offside — that was also a violation. So there are many refereeing mistakes, but overall and historically, they have always been slightly more in Real Madrid's favour," Pique added.
Pique spent the majority of his professional career at Barcelona, winning nine La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies with the club. He was also part of the Spain team that won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
The rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid remains one of football's most prominent, with debates over refereeing, trophies and playing styles regularly extending beyond the pitch.
